City of St. Clair Shores issued the following announcement on Feb. 3.
As mentioned in a previous letter, the City’s records indicate that you have a lead service line connecting your home to the City’s water system. This information is based on the original Water Service Connection Report created when your house was built.
The next step is the replacement of the lead service line at NO COST TO YOU.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) have issued new rules relative to lead water service lines. The new Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) requires the replacement of the entire lead service line at the City’s expense. Since the service line is located on private property, we require your permission for entry to accomplish the replacement.
Please print the enclosed Service Line Replacement Agreement. The Agreement can be emailed to millerr@scsmi.net or returned to the Department of Public Works, 19700 Pleasant Street, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.
Once the City receives the Agreement, we will contact you with additional information on the details of the replacement program and to schedule the work.
