Fireworks

City of St. Clair Shores issued the following announcement on June 17.

With Independence Day coming up, below are some helpful links to the City of St. Clair Shores Municode website regarding fireworks ordinances:

 General Restrictions - https://library.municode.com/…/compilation-general_and_zoni

 Prohibited Fireworks - https://library.municode.com/…/compilation-general_and_zoni

Please note that consumer fireworks will only be allowed after 11 a.m. on the following days:

 • Dec. 31, until 1 a.m. Jan. 1.

 • The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Memorial Day, until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days.

 • June 29 to July 4, until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days.

 • July 5, if that date falls on a Friday or Saturday, until 11:45 p.m.

 • The Saturday and Sunday immediately preceding Labor Day, until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days.

Above all, excessive use of fireworks that results in the disruption of residents is prohibited. Excessive use is defined as conduct that includes the continuous or intermittent ignition of fireworks continuing for more than 20 minutes. No display fireworks—fireworks that  are made of highly explosive materials meant for large fireworks displays—are allowed unless approved by City Council. The petitioner must apply to the City Clerk providing proof that the display and applicant are adequately insured and bonded.
