The Right to Life Organization of Michigan recently advocated for banning a common second-trimester abortion process -- known as dilation and evacuation -- making an oath to support only candidates with the same mindset, according to Bridge Michigan.

According to the state Bureau of Elections, the group didn't gather the required number of signatures from voters to advance the proposal. Right to Life, knowing that they didn't have the signatures, scrapped the initiative with plans to pick back up when they are able to acquire them.

Barbara Listing, who is the Right to Life of Michigan president, commented on the proposal.

“Our petition drive system works well in normal times, but this time we were forced to fight a series of unprecedented battles we did not choose,” Listing told Bridge Michigan

Listing says that this is the organization's first try at the proposal, but they're not giving up yet.

“This was our first attempt to end the 'dismemberment' of babies in Michigan, and we will continue working until we end this form of violence and protect the lives of every unborn child,” she told Bridge Michigan
