Macomb County issued the following announcement on July 25.
Macomb County Veterans Services will provide free dental exams to local veterans without dental insurance on August 12 and August 17. Service will be provided by MyCare Health Center (6900 E. Ten Mile Road, Centerline), where individuals can receive a comprehensive exam by a dentist, full mouth x-rays, a dental cleaning or full mouth debridement and a health screening.
“Receiving dental care is an important part of maintaining your overall health,” said Laura Rios, chief veterans services officer, Macomb County Veterans Services. “However, this can sometimes be overlooked, so our office is partnering with MyCare and organizing appointments for our veterans.”
“MyCare is very pleased to partner with Macomb County Veterans Services to provide dental care to our deserving veterans,” said Karen Wood, chief executive officer, MyCare Health Center.
During exam days, Macomb County Veterans Services will have a veterans service officer available for VA benefit consultation and a county trust fund/relief fund agent available for dental related financial assistance.
“We will be onsite to talk with anyone who might need benefit guidance or financial assistance,” Rios said. “Our team members are experts in navigating the health care system for veterans. We are here to help.”
Veterans are eligible for an appointment if they meet the following criteria:
At least six months of residency in Macomb County
One day war time era OR two years peacetime
Character of discharge: Honorable or under honorable conditions
Must provide DD214
No dental insurance
