CITY OF ST. CLAIR SHORES: Notice Of Close Of Registration Deadline For November 3, 2020 Election

City of St. Clair Shores issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.

Please take notice that any qualified elector of the City of St. Clair Shores who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the City Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us and mailed to the St. Clair Shores City Clerk.  Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, October 19, 2020.

After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency and picture identification (MCL168.492) at the City of St. Clair Shores Clerk’s Office, located at 27600 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 at the following times:

Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Additional Evening Hours until 7:00 p.m.: Tuesday, October 20, 2020, Monday, October 26, 2020, and Thursday, October 29, 2020

Saturday, October 31, 2020   from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This election is for the purpose of Electing candidates for the following offices:

FEDERAL                               President & Vice President

CONGRESSIONAL                               United States Senator and Representative in Congress 

LEGISLATIVE                        State Representative

STATE BOARDS                   Members of the State Board of Education

                                                Members of the Board of Regents of University of Michigan

                                                Members of the Board of Trustees of Michigan State University

                                                Members of the Board of Governors of Wayne State University

COUNTY                                Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk/Register of Deeds, 

Treasurer, Public Works Commissioner, and County Commissioners

JUDICIAL                               Justices of the Supreme Court

                Judge of the Court of Appeals – 2nd District

                Judges of the Circuit Court – 16th Circuit

                Judge of Probate Court

                40th District Court Judge     

COMMUNITY COLLEGE      Macomb Community College Board of Trustees

Proposal 20-1

A proposed constitutional amendment to allow money from oil and gas mining on state-owned lands to continue to be collected in state funds for land protection and creation and maintenance of parks, nature areas, and public recreation facilities; and to describe how money in those state funds can be spent

Proposal 20-2

A proposed constitutional amendment to require a search warrant in order to access a person’s electronic data or electronic communications

And City Charter Amendment:

CHARTER AMENDMENT

This is a charter amendment to require a period of public comment of at least two (2) minutes per person at regularly scheduled City Council meetings prior to City Council voting on matters requiring a vote at such meeting, and to require a second period of public comment near the conclusion of each regularly scheduled City Council meeting in conformity with the Michigan Open Meetings Act, as amended.
