St. Clair County SPEAK issued the following announcement on July 14.
The St. Clair County Substance Prevention through Early Action and Knowledge (SPEAK) Coalition is hosting a virtual youth scavenger hunt that will run from July 9th through August 15th, with youth encouraged to join the hunt at any time.
All school age St. Clair County child can participate with parent permission. Youth compete against other area youth to complete missions that provide substance use education and awareness and/or fun alternative activities to substance use such as kayaking, skateboarding and reading. The top 3 participants that earn the most points by completing missions will win an Amazon Gift Card. Youth can participate by downloading the Free GooseChase Mobile App. and entering the game code QEMQ36. Parents and guardians are encouraged to share this information with their children and to follow SPEAK on Facebook @sccspeak for event details. Preventing youth substance use by providing community education and alternate activities is the primary goal of the Coalition. Specific focus areas include underage drinking, youth marijuana use, youth vaping and adult/youth opioid use which align with the Coalition’s mission; “Striving for a healthier community by working together to prevent youth substance abuse.” Grant funding provided by MDHHS and Region 10 PIHP.
