Prosecutor Lucido Announces No Excuse for Elder Abuse Presentations

Abuse prohibited

County of Macomb issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that he is offering “No Excuse for Elder Abuse” presentations to seniors and their loved ones through community-based Senior Crimes Unit presentations.

Crime against our elders has gone up alarmingly over the past decade. The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office recognizes that our elderly and vulnerable adult communities are often more at risk to be taken advantage of, harmed, and viewed as an easy target to criminals. This is why the Senior Crimes Unit is so vital to the Prosecutor’s Office and Macomb County. The main mission of the Senior Crime Unit is to serve and protect, and vigorously prosecute those who would harm our most vulnerable population.

The Prosecutor’s Office is always available to provide assistance and answer any questions those in the senior community or their loved ones may have, but Prosecutor Lucido is extending outreach to those who can benefit from learning how to protect themselves and those they love from crime.

Lucido is offering on-site, community-based presentations from the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of the Senior Crimes Unit and other Senior Crimes Unit staff. These presentations will teach seniors and their loved ones how to protect themselves, prioritizing the issues of fraud scams, telemarketing scams, foreign solicitations, financial exploitation of vulnerable adults, domestic violence and elder abuse. Participants will be able to talk face-to-face with Prosecutor Lucido and staff about their questions and concerns.
