The Citizens' Police Academy met again this week and the focus was on the K9 program and the Special Response Team (SRT).
With the K9s; the class was introduced to Officer Sly, K9 Knight, and K9 Jade. Officer Sly spoke about their training,
and areas of expertise showed some of the training aids, and demonstrated how the dogs locate narcotics and/or explosives.
Lt. Godwin spoke about the SRT team, its roles, and responsibilities, the training and selection process, and showed some
of the tools and technology available to SRT in the event, they are mobilized.
