CITY OF ST. CLAIR SHORES: Register To Vote Deadline October 21, 2019

City of St. Clair Shores issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

To The Qualified Electors Of The City Of St. Clair Shores:

Please take notice that any qualified elector of the City of St. Clair Shores who is not already registered, may register to vote at the Office of the City Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency.  Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the St. Clair Shores City Clerk.  Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, October 21, 2019.

After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the City of St. Clair Shores Clerk’s Office, located at 27600 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, MI 48081 at the following times:

Regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Election Day, Tuesday, November 5th from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

For the purposes of electing candidates to the following office:

Lakeview Public Schools 

(Precincts 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15)

  • BONDING PROPOSAL
Shall Lakeview Public Schools, Macomb County, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Fifty-Four Million Dollars ($54,000,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, in one or more series, for the purpose of:

erecting, furnishing, and equipping additions to and remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; acquiring and installing instructional technology in school buildings; and erecting, furnishing, equipping, developing, and improving playgrounds, athletic fields and facilities, and sites?

The following is for informational purposes only:

The estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in 2020, under current law, is 2.17 mills ($2.17 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a -0- mill net increase over the prior year’s levy. The maximum number of years the bonds of any series may be outstanding, exclusive of any refunding, is twenty-one (21) years. The estimated simple average annual millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 6.42 mills ($6.42 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation).

The school district does not expect to borrow from the State to pay debt service on the bonds. The total amount of qualified bonds currently outstanding is $16,365,000. The total amount of qualified loans currently outstanding is $-0-. The estimated computed millage rate may change based on changes in certain circumstances.

(Pursuant to State law, expenditure of bond proceeds must be audited, and the proceeds cannot be used for repair or maintenance costs, teacher, administrator or employee salaries, or other operating expenses.)

South Lake Schools

(Precincts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7)

BUILDING AND SITE SINKING FUND TAX PROPOSAL

This proposal, if approved by the electors, will allow the South Lake Schools to levy a building and site sinking fund tax, the proceeds of which will be used to make improvements and repairs to the School District’s facilities, including security improvements and the acquisition or upgrading of technology. Pursuant to State Law, the expenditure of the building and site sinking fund tax proceeds must be audited, and the proceeds cannot be used for teacher, administrator or employee salaries, maintenance or other operating expenses.

Shall the South Lake Schools, County of Macomb, State of Michigan, be authorized to levy 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable valuations), for a period of ten (10) years, from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2030, to create a building and site sinking fund to be used for the construction or repair of school buildings, school security improvements, the acquisition or upgrading of technology and other purposes, to the extent permitted by law?  This millage would provide estimated revenues to the School District of approximately Five Hundred Thirty One Thousand Four Hundred Seventy Nine ($531,479.00) Dollars during the 2020 calendar year, if approved and levied.
